Thriving Communities Action Plan

Thriving Communities cover

After much consultation, discussion and work the Thriving Communities Action Plan has finally been released by Auckland Council.

The document itself is 42 pages long, but is an easy introduction into the intent and outcomes of Community Development Work.

(As many of you know, we currently have a community development project being undertaken in Patumahoe.  Emma Murtagh is the coordinator of the Looking After Locals Project, and can be contacted on lookingafterlocals@gmail.com.)

Much of the work and consultation undertaken by Patumahoe Village Inc, in the last four years has followed the framework provided by other grassroots organisations.  This action plan puts in place a concrete commitment from Auckland Council to support and assist such grassroots initiatives.  Along with the development of the Looking After Locals project, this gives all of us a wonderful opportunity to have a more direct influence on our local community.

So, grab yourself a cup of tea/glass of wine and sit down for a good read.  Then let those ideas flow – whether small or large! – then get in touch and we’ll see what we can do to make it happen.
