Patumahoe Village & Mauku are rural-residential villages but the existing Franklin District Plan (which is still applied to parks & reserves) does not differentiate between us or urban Pukekohe.

It was reinforced that many disagree with this, and that most consider the rural aspect of both communities a valued aspect of living here. There are many wonderful sites of interest within close walking/cycling proximity of Patumahoe & Mauku and we need to identify those which the community values the most. Also, we need to identify possible ‘lost’ treasures, and try to ensure that access to these is regained if possible.

Sustainability of the community is another ongoing discussion,which will require much consideration in our final plan.
